Every xCoin pool runs on its own full node. PPLNS pools pay miners directly in the block's coinbase; the pool never holds coins.
The rule
Every pool runs its own full node, on the same machine. The pool software will not start against a remote one.
Solo pays the finder. PPLNS pays the last N shares. Both pay in the coinbase.

A browser cannot open a raw stratum connection. Mine in the browser at xcoinminer.com instead. Enter your xpa1r… address and start. It connects for you; there is no stratum URL to paste.
Open xcoinminer.comA full pool is at its miner limit, the number after the slash. It turns new miners away with a message. Pick another region. A count with no slash means the pool reports no limit.
Solo or PPLNS

The finder takes the whole block.
Your rig works alone. When it finds a block, the coinbase pays the whole block, subsidy plus fees, to your address. The pool takes nothing. Rare, and all yours when it lands. Between blocks, nothing.
PPLNS · 2.99% fee
Every block pays the last N shares.
Pay per last N shares. Every block the pool finds pays the miners behind the last N shares, pro rata by work, directly in that block's coinbase. The 2.99% fee is paid in the same coinbase. The pool never holds coins: no balance, nothing to withdraw.
Run your own pool

To run a pool, you run your own full node, on the same machine.
The xCoin pool software enforces it. It refuses to start against a remote node: it accepts only an RPC host on loopback.
That is the point. A pool on its own node checks every block for itself before it builds on it. Each new pool adds an independent verifier to the network.
